New David Gough Art prints [29 May 2007|11:26am]

x-posted

Entitled ‘Theothanatos 1’ (which is Greek for Death of God) this is my latest work, wet from the studio. Painted in oils on a 16” x 20” canvas, I’ve been working on it steadily for over a month.

I am so happy and proud of this piece, and It pretty much encapsulates the new direction my work is going in, and I have at least seven or eight similar themed pieces which I’m working on towards a show possibly in the fall.

That said, I figured I’d float some signed prints on EBay...enjoy.

Storm Chasers [26 Aug 2006|10:53am]

mercurial_realm
This new piece was inspired by a watercolour piece I painted for my wife which was stolen in transit somewhere between New Jersey and Mexico, I reworked the theme of a dark elfin empress and her dragon companion, poised and ready to take flight on the lightening tendrils of an impending storm.

Entitled 'Storm Chasers' and Painted in oils on 16" x 20" canvas, the original is available as a Buy it Now, or as a $6 limited edition print of 20 from the following links:

I'd like to share two new pieces, which were painted to display at a recent faire I attended. The first piece is called 'Oracle', and portrays a moon shadow priestess, with the ability to see into the future. Here she has obviously seen something quite startling. Painted on 16" x 20" canvas, she is available until 21st August 7pm PDT, you can bid on her from the link below.

Oracle original art

The Second piece is called 'Safe Passage', and originally was intended to be a portrayal of a weary druid as he retired into the mists of time, but I painted the wounded warrior at the last minute.

You can bid on that piece until August 19th 4.30pm PDT

I've painted new piece based around the minotaur as beauty and the beast myth, which I thought I'd share, and the blurb for this one reads as thus:

'In the deep recesses of the quiet cavernous underworld, she comforts the raging beast with tender heart...'

Available for seven days until 30/7/06, 7pm PDT, you can bid on it from the link below:

My last homework [20 Apr 2005|01:38pm]

mercurial_realm
[ mood | happy ]

In just under two weeks, I shall be leaving the UK forever, and so I wanted my very last piece here to be a reflection of that.
Called 'The Solitary way', after the last line of Miltons poem 'Paradise Lost' Its how I feel about England and my experience of living here.
Regaled in how I imagine Vivian Westwood might dress her, the fairy looks to distant shores longingly, out of place amongst the exotic menagerie, whilst a curmudgeonly tattooed dragon coils around a dead oak, recalling one supposes St George, as a griffin (that most anglo American of mythical creatures) and pheonix stir from a superior branch.
So the very last thing I did before my life changed forever, and you can bid on it from the link here.

Though my family may not always approve, I'm fascinated by folklore and fairy tales. That's why I'm working on a THING (not sure what it will end up to be) about folklore and fairies and world mythology. Any help with resources, online or otherwise, would be greatly appreciated.
I started a thread at http://authorhaven.org/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=13 so I could get input and aid. I'm crossposting this through a few LJ communities in the hope of aid. comments here or at authorhaven would be welcomed, regardless of content.

Mermaid Painting [07 Feb 2005|04:32pm]

mercurial_realm
Greetings!
I hope it's alright to share one of my paintings with you all. This one is called 'The Brink'. I'm auctioning her off at eBay. I so wish I didn't have to see her go for such a low price but as I'm moving from the UK to sunny San Diego in California I've got to raise some cash as well as 'lessen the load' as it were. :)
This is one of my most personal pieces. The mermaids tentative trepidation upon discovering the drowning sailor......will she save him, won't she?.... Its a pivotal moment again, and though I am testament to the answer already-'The Brink' as such was the one that started it all, without this piece, there wouldn't have been anything that followed.
Along with Autumnstar, my latest piece for Valentine's day, its available to bid on for ten days, from the link below:.

I just joined and wanted to introduce myself. I'm Kimme I'm 21. I have always loved faeries and been interested in them. I'm looking into making my own wings and I make beaded jewelry. I also wanted to know if anyone could recommend books on faeries. Mostly the myths about them, but any fantasy books that have faeries in them I would love too.

Thanks. Feel free to add me on your friend's list. My journal is friends only, but just let me know you are from this community and I'll add you back.

Thanks.

Thought of something else...I have a few musical fae and am having trouble finding a place that has kind of fae-centric folk music with words and music and preferably some sort of midi file at least. Any suggestions? If I can't find anything, we can modify some existing ones.

Hi hi! I help organize, and am the primary researcher for, the Faerie Troupe. I also co founded. Why, that makes me sound all responsible and stuff. The Faerie Troupe is a small group portraying period accurate faeries at a couple local ren faires.
Anyways. One of my fae has decided to portray a Para this year. A klepto finnish household spirit, from the ONE thing at encyclopedia mythica. We're trying to find more info on this character and I was wondering if you could share any suggestions? Also costuming suggestions are always welcome.

My wings website is now up and running. http://faerietails.com

The wings section works, but the "other stuff" section does not yet. It will soon though. Pass along the word to any faeries you know!!

Any suggestions or comments are always welcome!!

Also, if anyone makes jewelry, and wants to sell it, let me know. I would like to have some on the site, and I will be willing to put it up and sell it for you, with credit and everything. We can work out pricing and everything together.
